Tony Gore and Majesty – An Encore!
In the Fall of 1993 something wonderful happened! Tony Gore formed a brand new group, a trio, called Tony Gore and Majesty. They were immediately accepted by Southern Gospel fans with open arms. Over the next 10 years, Tony Gore and Majesty began setting the standard for excellence. “Thank God”, their very first release was a Top 5 charting song, as was “I Know What It’s Like”. “Meanwhile In The Garden” soared to the Number One position on the Southern Gospel charts and camped out there for three months! Song after song, release after release; the hits kept coming. They set landmark in the industry like being the first Southern Gospel group to ever tour the country of Ireland. They were one of the most requested artists on Gospel Music Television, and in major radio markets across the United States, South Africa and Ireland. And Tony always had the finest talent singing with him, and Tony Gore and Majesty launched many ministries, music ministers, evangelists and pastors, who are blessing lives today.
Then, in the Spring of 2002, Tony’s ministry took a new direction as he because a Solo artist. God has blessed, and Tony has continued to travel and minister with a fresh anointing.
On December 31, 2004, Tony, and former members John Lanier and Calvin Thornton reunited for one night to sing as Tony Gore and Majesty again in Charleston, West Virginia at the longest running New Year’s Eve event in Southern Gospel Music. The response was immediate and emphatic. The crowd there that night kept calling for encore after encore, and the Tony Gore and Majesty Encore Tour was born.
Since leaving Tony Gore and Majesty, John Lanier has built a very successful singing and preaching ministry. His outstanding Tenor voice is still impeccable. John said, “What a thrill it is for me to relive the memories, and make new memories with two of my finest friends.” Calvin Thornton is a serving as Minister of Music for a church in Atlanta, GA. Calvin’s melodic baritone voice is still strong and smooth. “After going our separate ways for the last 8 years,” Calvin adds, “it is so exciting to reunite with two of my closest friends.” And, of course, Tony, still the man with a tear in his voice, has since built a highly successful solo ministry. All three will continue their individual careers, but have decided to come back together for selected dates as Tony Gore and Majesty. “I’m looking forward to each date on the Encore tour,” says Tony “Each one will be unique; each one will be exciting. I look forward to seeing all our friends along the way.”
The Encore Tour will bring back once again the sound, the energy, and the excitement that was known and loved by promoters and fans of all ages as Tony Gore and Majesty.
